To prepare for the procedure, Dr. Randy will numb your mouth and trim your tooth. Then, he will use a hand-held intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your teeth.

Dr. Randy will use the scans to design your crown. He'll then load a tooth-colored block of porcelain into the CAD/CAM machine which will carve out the crown based on his design.

Dr. Randy will remove the crown from the CAD/CAM machine, check it to make sure it fits, and then bond it in place to complete the procedure.
Wondering why you should get same-day crowns from Houska Dental, rather than choosing traditional porcelain crowns? Here are just a few benefits that you’ll enjoy.
Normally, crowns take at least two appointments over a period of 1-2 weeks or longer, since the crown has to be built at an outside dental lab. However, CAD/CAM dentistry allows us to offer crown treatment in just a single, 1-2 hour appointment. Whether you need a crown to repair a damaged or decayed tooth or you’re replacing an old, worn-out crown, this makes it easier to fit your treatment into your busy schedule.
Normally, you would get a temporary resin crown to protect your tooth while you wait for your final crown to be made. These can be bulky, uncomfortable, and unnatural-looking, and are more difficult to brush and floss. They also may fall off of your tooth prematurely. No temporary crowns are needed with same-day CAD/CAM crowns from Dr. Randy.
Many patients find trays to be uncomfortable, especially if they have strong gag reflexes. Instead of bite trays and dental putty, Dr. Randy uses a hand-held digital scanner to take digital impressions of your smile.
